Shirley was born on November 6, 1935 in Flint, Michigan. Shirley married the love of her life, Everett Gerald Sova, at the age of 17 on January 18, 1952. They celebrated 63 astounding anniversaries together. She was the proud daughter of the late Lawrence Sr. and Irma Miller. She was the oldest of 6 siblings. Surviving are Richard (Ruth) Miller, Lawrence Jr. (Oka) Miller, Marilyn Burch, Dennis (Patricia) Miller, and Dale (Peggy) Miller. She was preceded in death by her baby brother Bobby Miller.
She was blessed with 5 children. She was a remarkably amazing mother to Suzanne (James) Spencer, Michael Sr. (Selena) Sova, Gary (Jackie) Sova, Cindy (Jonny) Knuuti, and Patrick (Jane) Sova. Shirley had one very special adopted “Arizona daughter,” Darlene (Mark) Messner. She was an extremely proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren; Jamie (Ryan) Dobbs, Denyell (Nick) Sova, Carly (Ryan) Lamb, Kelly (Ramon) Almonte, Todd (Amanda) Sova, Andrew (Kim) Knuuti, Michael Jr. (Holly) Sova, Hollie (Shane) Woodruff, Robert (Jen) Knuuti, Stacey (Justin) Sova, and 9 great grandchildren Cierra, Celia, Cross, Sophie, Ella, Kaiden, Adriane, Maya, and Londyn. She loved bragging that she had 19 beautiful grandchildren. There are several precious nieces and nephews and very special friends, too many to name but were dear to her heart.
Shirley enjoyed camping, playing keno, bingo, cooking and watching basketball games. She consumed her time nurturing and caring for others. She had a unique way of making everyone feel extraordinary. Her special touch made everyone feel very blessed and loved. Her greatest joy in life was spending quality time with family members and friends. Shirley was an amazing caregiver to all in her presence. She was fun-loving, compassionate and filled with gentle kindness. She had a loving and generous heart and was always giving to others. This was her special gift and her true calling in life that brought her great joy. She leaves countless loving memories to be cherished by her family and friends.
