TOMKINSON, Robert “Bob” D. – of Clio, age 86, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Florida. Funeral services will be held 11AM, Monday, April 15, 2019 at West Vienna United Methodist Church, 5485 West Wilson Road, Clio. Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie officiating. Burial to follow in West Vienna Cemetery. Family will receive visitors Sunday at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio from 2PM until 8PM and at the church on Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to West Vienna United Methodist Church.
Bob was born November 3, 1932 in Vienna Township to the late Lloyd and Viola (Knoll) Tomkinson. He graduated from Clio High School in 1950. Bob married Bernice Rhoden on June 11, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida. He proudly served in the United States Navy as an engine mechanic. Bob retired from Buick in 1988 after 37 years of seniority and was a member of UAW Local #599. He attended West Vienna United Methodist Church in Clio. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and playing cards. He also enjoyed 24 years of wintering in Lakeland, Florida. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his granddaughters play softball and spending time with his family.
Surviving are: Wife of 63 years, Bernice; Children: Ron (Sally) Tomkinson and Vicki (Warren) Tracey; Granddaughters: Tiffany (Todd) Gibbon, Kristen (Loren) Ayotte, Rebecca Tomkinson, and Laura Tracey; 2 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; Brother, Elwyn (Diana) Tomkinson; Sister, Dorothy Miller and many friends from Florida and Michigan.
