Stanley E. Godley age 71 of Swartz Creek passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Pastor Shawn Eicher will be officiating. Burial will follow to Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service.
Stanley was born December 11, 1946 in Durand a son of Stanley G. and Gertrude (McCaslin) Godley. On February 3, 1967 he married Janet Bahr. Stanley was a member of the Swartz Creek Masons 458. He enjoyed wood carving, working on old clocks, family history, photography, and old cars. He dressed up as Santa Clause for the holidays for over 45 years. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he had been employed by General Motors for 30 years.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Janet Godley; children, Barbara (Don Simpson) Wisley, Brenda (Jim) Austin, Greg (Marcia) Godley and Gerrad Godley; grandchildren, Andrew, Justin, Rose, Rachel (Tim), Joshua, Krista (Richard), Kayleigh (Noah), Kyle and Chaz; great grandchildren, Ivan and Alex; and his sister, Sheryl Dye. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Gertrude Godley.
