Harry L. “Popper” Ashford, age 71 of Fostoria, MI. passed away Sunday September 13, 2015 at Genesys Regional Medical Center, Grand Blanc Township.
Funeral services will be 3PM Thursday September 17, 2015 at the Avram Funeral Home with Pastor Carole Brown officiating.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday 4-8PM, and on Thursday 1PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Mayville/Vassar VFW Post #10884 and the American Legion Post #181, following the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made Mayville VFW Post #10884, or the American Legion Post #181.
Harry was born December 30, 1943 in Owosso MI. to Harry and Evelyn Mae (Colvert) Ashford. Harry married Janice Johnson January 26, 1991 in Farmington Hills, MI. Harry proudly served his country in the Marines. Harry retired from General Motors as a fork truck driver after 32 ½ years. Harry loved riding motorcycles, being outside, animals, feeding deer,watching wildlife and spending time with family. Harry “Popper” was a member of S.T.A.R Motorcycle Chapter # 266. He enjoyed participating in the Patriotic Guard.
Harry is survived by his wife Janice, children Jeff (Tammy) of Ohio, Brian (Melissa) of Ohio, and Michelle Womack of Florida. Grandchildren Jaysley, Kelsay, Lance, Heather, Lucas, Leah, Tony and Dessie, brother Don (Maureen) Ashford of Davison, step-sisters Aletha (Art) Jaeger of Washington D.C. And Kim (Ron) Grinnell of Morrice, MI; and also his fur baby, Stetson.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly Adams.
