GUELDE, Joyce N. (Nelson) – of Flint, age 89, passed away May 17, 2016 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, May 20, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Bruce Billing officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11 AM – 8PM. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Atherton United Methodist Church or Reverence Hospice.
Joyce was born in Muskegon, MI on February 4, 1927, daughter of the late Clair and Lillian (Whaley) Nelson. She married William E. Guelde on January 18, 1947 and preceded her in death on March 9, 2011. Joyce worked in retail sales and management at Yankee Stores and Montgomery Ward. She belonged to Atherton United Methodist Church and was part of their “Ugly Quilt Club.” Joyce was an avid bowler and reader. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping and family vacations.
Joyce is survived by her children, Sheryl (Jimmie) Owens, Rex W. Guelde, Toni (Larry) Bartman and Marcia Madaras; grandchildren, Michael (Kristina) Owens, Brian (Lori) Owens, Kati (Kris) Allinger, Deanna (Dave) Tebedo, Ashley (Kyle) Bergquist, Kari (Travis) Prescott and Danny Madaras; 15 great-grandchildren, brother, Tom Nelson; brother-in-law, James Guelde; sister-in-law, Virginia Smith; best friends, Mary Lou Grilliot and Doris Ballge; beloved cat Callie. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister; son-in-law, Tom Madaras.
