GRAWBURG, Lela V. – Of Burton, age 79, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011, surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday and 12 noon Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Lela was born on December 6, 1931 in St. Petersburg, Florida to Calvin and Omalee Jones. She was one of nine children. She married Jack Grawburg on April 6, 1952 in Dade City, Florida and they moved to Flint, Michigan shortly afterwards. They shared 59 years of marriage together. Lela was a very social person and an avid bowler. She enjoyed her friends and the “birthday club” that they formed, that spanned for many decades. She was quick witted, funny and her humor and pondering often left those around her laughing uncontrollable. She was always the funniest though, when she made herself laugh, bringing everyone around her to tears!
She had a great love for her family, especially for her grandchildren. Her love, strength and humor will be missed by; husband, Jack;
daughter, Cindy (Tom); son, Larry; grandchildren, Corey, Joey, Leah and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Jack and Allison; brother, Melvin (Sandy); sister, Willie; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Special thank you to Avalon Hospice, Nurse Angie and Dr. Christy for all the great care. She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings and her daughter-in-law, Beth Grawburg.
