MARTIN, Lois Leone (Gullickson) – of Davison, age 100, passed away August 17, 2015 circled by her family at her residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, August 21, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. A graveside service will be held at 3 PM Friday at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Daughters of Isablla Regina Coeli Circle #1095 will hold a Memorial Service at 6:30 PM Thursday. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Christian Services or Heartland Hospice.

Lois was born in St. Paul, MN on May 24, 1915, daughter of the late Oscar and Amelia (Wilson) Gullickson. She married Romuald S. Martin of Dowagiac, MI on August 1, 1942 in a Catholic Chapel at Jefferson Barracks Air Force Base in St. Louis MO and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2005. Lois graduated from West Allis High School, West Allis, WI, earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and a M.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She was a teacher of the deaf in Rochester, MN, Dowagiac, MI (Where she and Ro met) and Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint, retiring in 1977. Lois was past-president of the MSD Professional Association and served on the State Curriculum Resource Committee in Lansing. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison, the Altar Society, former co-coordinator of its Fifty and Over Travel Club, member of St. Patrick’s Guild, Charter member and Past Regent of Regina Coeli Circle # 1095 Daughters of Isabella, White School PTA Past President, member of State Employees Retiree Association, M.E.A.R., N.E.A.R., M.A.R.S.P., A.A.R.P., University of Michigan Alumni Association, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Alumni Association, American Tree Farm Program, Michigan Farm Bureau and Pinochle Club. Lois enjoyed traveling with her husband and family; she visited all fifty states and camped in many of them, also some foreign travel.

Lois is survived by 5 very dear children and their families, Beth (Martin) Houser of Davison, Stephen (Linda) Martin of Davison, Mark (Madeline) Martin, Alan (Claire) Martin of Buchanan, Andrea (Chris Muller) Keib of Holly; grandchildren Kathryn (Scott) Rush, Brenda (Don) Pietras, Martin (Jenna) Houser, Laura Houser, Jason (Amie) Martin and Kelly (Jim) Crystal, Melissa (Dutch), Ryan and Stephanie Martin, Kristopher, Mary and Elizabeth Martin, Adam, Amber, Jenna and Chance Keib; great grandchildren, Brian, David, Jessica, Kyle, Caralyn, Nathan, Cole, Ethan, Leena, Owen,Emerson, Greyson, Alayna, Nash, Haydn, Flynn, Darby, Greer, Nolan, Cameron and Mattison; sister, Phylis Johnson of Madison, WI; sisters-in-law, Theresa Stewart of California, Dorothy Martin of Baltimore; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Christine; brothers, Stuart (Janet) and Curtis (Betty) Gullickson; son-in-law, David Keib.
