RICH, Veris Warren. - of Mt. Morris, Michigan, formerly Robinson, Illinois, age 91, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at his residence with family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 11:30AM Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Minister Bill Brossman officiating. Burial at 2:30PM Tuesday at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly with full Military Honors. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 4PM until 8PM, and Tuesday from 10:30AM until the time of service at 11:30AM.
Veris was born December 18, 1925 in rural Flat Rock, Illinois, son of the late Lester R. and Elizabeth E. (Rush) Rich. He was a member of the East Arbela Church of Christ in Millington. Veris married Louise Butcher on January 21, 1946. He served in the Infantry of the U.S. Army, under the command of General George Patton, during World War II in the European Theatre. Veris also served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Rich worked for Marathon Oil Company in refining and marketing for 37 years, retiring in 1986. After retiring, he worked part time at the Flint Auto Auction for 11 years. Veris loved music and was very musically inclined. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife, Louise.
Surviving are: Wife, Louise Rich of Mt. Morris; Children: Deborah (Denny) Robertson of Clio, Lonnie Rich of Clio, Melody (John) Henry of Mt. Morris, Rodney (Shelly) Rich of Indian Trail, NC; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; Sister, Wanda Weger of Texas. Veris was also preceded in death by his son, Kevin Rich; Daughter, Karen Rich; Granddaughter, Shawne Rich; Brothers: Jerry Rich, and James William Love Jr.; Sisters: Virginia Decker, and Anita Rich.
