DOWDY, Ricky O. -- age 62, of Gaines, died March 2, 2011 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 12 Noon Monday, March 7 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation 6-8 PM Saturday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday. Interment 2 PM Monday in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Ann Arbor VA Hospital. Mr. Dowdy was born February 19, 1949 in Flint the son of Dean and Dephane Dorothy (Moench) Dowdy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He retired from Simplicity Engineering in Durand. He was active in 4-H for many years, and a flag boy for the Genesee County Sheriff's Posse. Surviving are: wife Sharon; five children, Chris Gallaher, Christy Davis, Sara Cabuag, Deanna Godfrey, Jonathon Dowdy; eight grandchildren; brother Bradley; sister Sandee Sproul.
