PERO, Donald F. - age 92, of Swartz Creek, passed away at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, Marquette on October 18, 2018. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Monday, November 5, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church G3139 Hogarth Ave, Flint with Fr. Anthony Strouse celebrant. The family will receive friends 2-7PM Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Flint and 10 am Monday until time of Mass at Church. A scripture service will be held 6 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Donald was born April 18, 1926 in Flint, the son of Frank F. and Ervilla (Fisk) Pero. He married Nancy Clare Wachowski in Flint on June 18, 1949 and they were happily married for 64 years. Donald proudly served in the US Army Air Force. He was the owner of D.J. Collision in Flint. He was a member of the Jordan Valley Hunt Club and St. Pius X Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Donald was also past Commander of the American Legion Post #294. Most importantly, he instilled the value of family on all of his loved ones. Surviving are: children, Kathy (David) Allan of Marquette, Nancy (Mark) Conklin of Marquette, Cindee (Ronald) Shortt of Swartz Creek, Donald (Lisa) Pero II of Paradise Lake, Dan (Kathy) Pero of Swartz Creek; 11 grandchildren, Andy Allan, Jodie Metty, Tony Conklin, Carley Jensen, Brian Shortt, Brent Shortt, Tiffany Evans, Dustin Pero, Brandon Pero, Brianne Pero, and Brett Pero; 14 great-grandchildren, Ava, Parker, Mollie, Samuel, Eli, Lucas, Lyla, Ethan, Brooklynn, Jillian, Gabe, Hannah, Isaac, and Naomi; and his beloved dog of 12 years Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nancy Clare Pero, and sister Arlene Henry. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
