DeBUCK, Eleanor Marie – has completed her life's work on this earth on Feb. 17, 2013 and has left us to join her husband, Leo Julius DeBuck, in their heavenly home. Eleanor was born to Edward and Mary Malburg on October 6th, 1924 in Detroit. She met Leo at the Eastern Market in Detroit while both were delivering vegetables to customers there. The seeds of their love were firmly planted and gently grew. They married on May 1, 1943 at St. Clements Church in Centerline, Michigan and started working side by side raising vegetables in Mt. Clemens. In 1957, they transitioned into sod farming and then expanded their farm by moving to Davison in 1966. Three daughters and five sons joined this couple to fill their home and hearts with love and laughter. They include: Mary Louise (Dennis) Slessor, of Troy, MI, Leonore (Paul) Obolewicz of Carmel, IN, Arlene DeBuck of Davison, MI, Marvin (Roseanne) DeBuck of Ray, MI, Norman (Linda) DeBuck of Belleville, MI, David (Debra) DeBuck of Delavan, WI, Alan (Dawn) DeBuck of Davison, MI, Leonard (Valorie) DeBuck of Pine Island, NY, former son-in-law, David Minto of Davison. She also was loved by 25 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her sisters, Rosemary (Marcel) VanDaele and Joann (Joseph) Schatko; her brothers Albert Malburg, Louis (Lorraine) Malburg, and Norman (Lorraine) Malburg, former sister-in-law, Marie Malburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was an accomplished seamstress all of her life. She and Leo enjoyed playing golf together and were members of the Davison Country Club for 34 years. She played many rounds with her friends, especially Iola Minto, Jackie Guertin and Maxine Thompson. She was also a member of the North Palm Beach Country Club in Florida. The highlight of her golf career was a hole in one while playing there on Feb. 28, 1995. Her large family enjoyed many meals prepared by Eleanor, who loved cooking and baking sweet things for them. There was always room around her table for more and no one left hungry. Eleanor and Leo's deep faith and devotion to God were evident in all they did. They were members of St. John Catholic Church in Davison. Eleanor was a member of St. Patricia's guild.
Eleanor’s Mass of Celebration will be held 11 AM Thursday, February 21, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison. Visitation will be 1-8 PM Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Wednesday. On Thursday, visitation will be at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John Catholic Church. Welcoming Eleanor to her heavenly home along with her husband Leo, are her daughter-in-law Patricia DeBuck, her grandson Andrew DeBuck, her great grandson, Austin DeBuck, her sister Bernice Reichenbach, her brothers Francis Malburg and Wilfred Malburg and her parents.
