Wonderlic, Robert C. “Bob” of Flushing, age 76, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Rossell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested memorial contributions to a charity of your choice.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan on September 4, 1935, the son of the late Clair and Lillian (Foe) Wonderlic. Bob attended Flint Schools, graduating from Flint Central High School in 1953. He served in the Michigan National Guard and U.S. Army between 1954 and 1957. Bob graduated from Mott Community College in 1958 and Michigan State University in 1960 with a B.A. Degree, where he majored in Personnel Administration and Geography. He also received his M.A. Degree in Management from Central Michigan University in 1981. Upon completion of his military service and graduation from MSU, he began his 30 year career with General Motors Corporation, Buick Division. Bob retired from that location as General Supervisor of Labor Relations in 1990. He was also assigned to AC Spark Plug and Fisher Flint Body Assembly during his tenure with the corporation.
Bob was very active in the Flushing community. In the early 70’s, he was appointed to the City of Flushing Planning Board. He was later elected to the Flushing City Council and served on that board from 1973 through 1977, where he was selected as Mayor Pro Tem during his last two years on the council.
Bob’s favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends, traveling, fishing, landscaping and carpentry.
He is survived by his son, Mark Wonderlic of Richmond Hill, Georgia; daughter, Sue Henstein of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren, Ryan and Andrea Wonderlic and Nicole Henstein; brother, Douglas and wife Carolyn Long of Washington, DC.
