HOLDORF, Daniel E. – Of Avon Park, Florida, formerly of Burton, age 69, died Friday, April 4, 2014 in Tampa, Florida.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Aaron Whitman officiating.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Flint Marine Corps League at 7 p.m. Wednesday and the Burton Eagles will conduct a Memorial Service Thursday at 7 p.m. both at the funeral home.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with a Military Graveside Service under the auspices of the Flint Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kathy for Dan's medical expenses.
Daniel was born in Flint, Michigan on November 28, 1944
and was a resident of Burton most of his life.
He proudly served with the United States Marine Corps.
Dan was a charter member of the Burton Eagles for 30 years and pitched on the Eagles Softball Team.
He was an avid golfer, playing most of the time at Southmoor.
Dan enjoyed playing in the Alzheimer and Youth Service Organization Benefits.
Mr. Holdorf was employed by GM-SPO for over 30 years.
Surviving are wife, Kathy Shumaker-Holdorf;
children, Anne and husband Dale Polston,
Sandra O'Reily,
Thomas and wife Amy Cole,
James Peters II;
and all his adopted children;
grandchildren, Duane, Allen, Jay, Samantha, Cody, Andrea, Madelyn Natalye and Tycen;
great-grandchildren, Gregory and Devan;
siblings, Melvin Holdorf, Dee Hart and Pam Thompson;
his dog, Thumper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Maxine (Rodgers) Holdorf; brothers, Don Holdorf and Marvin Holdorf.
