Anderson, Harvey Earling – of Flint, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
The family welcomes visitation from 11 AM Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Harvey, known as a gentle, humble man of exceptional character, was born in Clearbrook, Minnesota on June 3, 1932. He was a resident of Genesee County since 1949. Harvey proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a barber for 40 years and owned Harv’s Barbershop where he formed lifelong friendships and respect in the community. Harvey was a Master Woodworking Craftsman and pilot. His passions included woodworking, fishing, baking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his 2 children, Dana (Bob) Murphy of Linden and David Anderson of California and their mother Mary (James) Woodyard; granddaughters, Danielle (Jeffrey) Potts and Shannon Harbin and their father James Harbin; brothers, Floyd Anderson and Robert Jorgensen; sisters, Pearl Crosby-Smith, Carol Haller, Ella Bell and Linda Buchholz; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Additional family includes Marcie (DJ) Gerard, Mark Bissonnette, Kris (Pat) O’Connor, Mark (Angie) Stein, Todd (Jodi) Stein, the Stein grandchildren, both the Stowers and Murphy families, and his many special friends.
Harvey was preceded in death by wife, Margaret Anderson; loving companion, Florence Stein; son, Danny Anderson; parents, Edwin Anderson and Mable (John) Anderson-Jorgensen & Dan and Lillian Nelson; sisters, Doreen Loomis and Ester Black; brothers, Ervin Anderson and Johnny Jorgensen; and special cousins, Glen Nelson, Orville Nelson and Lucille Thompson.
