VANDEFIFER, Dorothea I. “Dort” – of Frankenmuth, age 99, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at St. Mary’s of Saginaw. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 12noon Monday, October 3, 2016 at Montrose United Methodist Church. Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10 AM until time of services at noon. Inurnment will be in Montrose Twp. Cemetery at a later date. Contributions may be made to Montrose United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Dort was born January 18, 1917 in Flint to the late Lyle and Caroline (Wilson) MacGillivray. She was a resident of Frankenmuth the past 20 years. Mrs. Vandefifer retired from AC in 1981 with 30 years seniority. She had attended Montrose United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Montrose and the UAW Local #651. Dort had a unique sense of style. She loved animals and being with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Son, Murray (Eva) Vandefifer of Montrose; Grandchildren: Corby Vandefifer (companion Joan Bacon) of Montrose, Andrea (Michael) Dingeldey of South Lyon, Kerry (David) Roman of Oxford; Great Grandchildren: Noah and Eric Vandefifer, Jacob, Andrew and Riley Roman, Ben and Grace Dingeldey; Sister-in-law, Shirley MacGillivray of Frankenmuth; much loved nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: Husband, John in 1985; Brothers: Harold and Chester MacGillivray; and a Sister, Del Kime.
