BENTLEY, Phyllis Elaine - Age 92, of Swartz Creek, died August 14, 2015. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Bristol United Methodist Church, 5285 Van Slyke Rd., Flint. Pastor Marv Herman officiating. Interment at Bristol Cemetery, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and 10 AM until time of service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Bristol United Methodist Church General Fund.
Phyllis was born November 12, 1922, in Mt. Morris the daughter of John W. and Mildred O. (Hilsinger) Knickerbocker. She married James H. Bentley in 1945; he preceded her in death in 1982. Phyllis was employed by Genesee County Agricultural Office from 1942-1945, and was a Nurse at Hurley retiring in 1987. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, and taking care of her lawn. She was a farmer her entire life and was active in the 4-H Clubs. She was a member of Bristol United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Marlene Morency, James (Michael Marie) Bentley, Denise (Bob) Black, Kevin (Lana) Bentley; daughter in law, Sharon Bentley; 19 grandchildren, Natasha Wilshire, Karen (Jack) Hennesey, Lauren (Matthew) Umbel, Susan (James) Hoffert, Stosh (Melinda) Morency, Katie Kelso, Jennifer (Dennis) Price, Michael (Jamie) Bentley, Jessica, Jamie and Amanda Bentley, Lindsay and Dennis Bentley, Stephanie, Sarah, R.J (April), Trevor Black, James (Libby) and Thomas Bentley; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Dr. Donald (Bobbie) Knickerbocker; sisters in law, Doreen Knickerbocker and Joyce Rockwell; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Dennis Bentley; daughter in law, Dr. Karen Bentley; sister, Florence; brothers, John L. and Paul Knickerbocker. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
