Vera Irene Halka
Age 86 of Owosso passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Oliver Woods.
Funeral Services will be held 11AM Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Easton Church of Christ, 3477 East Easton Road with Brother Terry Strickler and Rev. Mark O'Brien officiating.
Burial will follow at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM.
Vera was born May 30, 1930 in New Haven Township, the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Hozak) Rumisek.
She was a graduate of Owosso High School.
She married Robert Frank Halka on October 22, 1949 in Owosso; he predeceased her on June 6, 1996.
Vera is survived by her children Deborah Cartwright of Birch Run, Bob (Marg) Halka of Grand Rapids and Tom (Marsha) Halka of Davisburg;
grandchildren Joshua (Caitlin) Halka and Jeremy Halka; great-grandson, Merrik Halka; brother, Emil (Lottie) Rumisek; sister-in-law Jane Rumisek;
nieces, nephew, cousins and other loving family and friends both here and in the Czech Republic
She was predeceased by sister, Mildred Spousta; brother, Miroslav and an infant brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Association and/or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
