WOGEN, ELEANOR D. - Of Swartz Creek, age 91, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, surrounded by her 6 children, and has joined her beloved husband of 52 years, Stan, in Heaven.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Joe Cottam officiating.
Those desiring may make contributions to Faith Lutheran Church or Heart to Heart Hospice in memory of Eleanor.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Eleanor was born in Flint, Michigan on July 5, 1925.
On February 26, 1943, she married Stanley Wogen in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She was past president of the Flint Yard & Garden Club; was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and volunteer with McLaren Hospital Auxiliary.
Eleanor was a reporter for the Estherville Daily News.
She enjoyed gardening, floral arranging, bowling and softball.
Surviving are her children, Sandy and husband Dick Carlson of Williams Bay, Wisconsin,
Scott of Linden,
Wendie and husband Geoff Culver of Flushing,
Randy of Flushing,
Kristi and husband Ron Lamb of Dayton, Ohio,
Dennis and wife Kathy Wogen of Wheaton, Illinois;
grandchildren, Alan, David, Rebecca, John, Michael, Joe, Amie, Melissa, Geoff Jr., Blake, Erika, Taryn, Marcus and Tyler;
24 great-grandchildren;
sister, Marilyn Hardy of Burton;
several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the Heart to Heart Hospice nurses Amanda and Kylie; dear family friend and nurse, Mary Pelton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; brother, Eugene and sister, Esther.
