MATTARELLA, S. Bruce - Of Lapeer, formerly of Flint, age 84, died Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center.
Visitation 11am-2pm and 4-8pm Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Wednesday at the church until the time of the Mass.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Wednesday, November 25, 2015
at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, Father Bob Bacik officiating.
A luncheon will be held immediately following the Mass.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 1:30pm.
Contributions may be directed to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Bruce was born in Flint on July 31, 1931, the son of the late Bruce and Irene Mattarella. Bruce married Margaret Ann Pascuzzo on February 4, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1949 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Wayne State University. Bruce served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Bruce owned and operated Rainbow Garden Center in Flint for many years. He was an extremely hard working yet humble man. Bruce enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the piano, was a handyman extraordinaire and had an insatiable sweet tooth. He was known for his kind and gentle heart, friendly smile and sense of humor. Most importantly he was a loving husband, wise and wonderful father, steadfast friend and a believer in Jesus Christ.
Surviving are wife, Margaret Ann;
children, Karen and husband Louie Lepri of Fenton, MI and their children, Jacquelyn (Troy), great-grandson, Camden, Kelly (Ryan), Alexis;
Bruce and wife Karen Mattarella of Canton, MI and their children Jessica, Mary (Jacob), Kristine (Michael), Anne Marie;
and Richard and wife Terri Mattarella of Traverse City, MI and their children Taylor, Brandon, Kailey and Jordan;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and loving sister Marjorie.
