HILL, Willis (Bill) E., age 94, of Flint Township, MI quietly passed away June 6, 2024. Bill was born and raised in Fenton, MI. He graduated from Fenton High School in 1948, served in the US Navy from 1948-1953, and married the love of his life – Virginia (Gini) George in 1953, enjoying 64 years of marriage. He made up for the solitude of being an only child by having 9 children of his own – 8 sons and 1 daughter. William (Gail) Hill, Brian Hill, Thomas (Jill) Hill, Christopher (Evelyn) Hill, Philip Hill, Andrew (Sharon) Hill, James (Martha) Hill, Mary (Brian) Flynn, Anthony (Maria) Hill.
Dad loved his time boating on Lake Fenton from a young age, which would eventually be the place where he met our mother. Many family memories were made during the long summers at the cabin swimming, water skiing and just having fun. The only thing that made dad happier than piloting a boat was piloting an airplane. He earned his private pilot license in 1965 and spent many an hour at the airport, either flying or sitting in a hanger and talking about flying. Attending airshows in Oshkosh, WI was the highlight of his summer. Many of his closest friends came from his flying community, with admiration for their flying skills. Dad’s passions continued into his love for ice cream and cookies. If he was ever lacking for an appetite, you could be sure he would finish a bowl of ice cream. A scoop of vanilla with just the right amount of Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Dad retired from GM in 1988 after nearly 40 years of service in skilled trades as a die maker. He was a long time parishioner of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and one time president of the Flint Breakfast Optimist Club.
Dad was a proud grandpa to 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren with 2 more due any day. He was proceeded in death by his parents Mary (Hogan) and Harold Hill, and his wife Gini. The family would like to thank Joan Clark and Sue Stallard for being Dad's caregivers over the last several years and Anchored Heart for the hospice care they provided during the last month of his life.
