TAYLOR, A. Byron – of Clio, age 91, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Rick Schmidt officiating. Entombment will be at Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of services. Contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Hospice Advantage.
Byron was born September 26, 1920 in Rector, AR to the late Alva and Ethel (Shelton) Taylor. He was a resident of Rector and later moved to Flint and then was a resident of Clio for 41 years. He married Avanell Johnson on October 4, 1941 in Rector, recently celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Byron was a butcher by trade having worked at Cole and Woods Market in Flint, James Market and Bob and Sal’s of Otisville, retiring in sales at Flint Memorial Park. He was a choir director at Fourth St. Methodist Church in Rector, AR. Byron enjoyed gospel music and in his younger years sang in a gospel quartet. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his best buddy “Sugar” the dog.
Surviving are: wife, Avanell; daughters, Pat (Bruce) Hunt of Clio, Gatha (Jim) Buckey; grandchildren, Mark (Tina) Hunt, Staci Crane, Wendy (David) Beggs; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brian, Andrew, Sarah, Nicholas; great-great-grandchild, Adrienne; brother, Dewey Taylor; nieces and a nephew.
