Ruth Louise Krout, age 89, of Flushing, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Friday, July 24th. Born on April 27, 1926 to John & Mikalina Zaliagiris, Ruth (Biruta) was raised in Detroit & attended Western High School where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, Ruth worked for the Detroit Department of Education & Wayne State. Ruth, also known as Ruthie or Biruta, spent most of her adult life as a “Yooper” following her marriage in 1948 to John (Jack) Krout of Gladstone. While residing in Gladstone, Ruth raised 5 children and was employed as a legal secretary and Delta County District Court Recorder. In order to be closer to their children & grandchildren, Ruth & Jack moved to Flushing in 2000 where they remained until their final days. Ruth loved games and adventures and will always be remembered for her competitive spirit, natural curiosity and loving ways. Ruth had an undying passion for life-long learning, her family, and her many friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in January, 2003 & daughter, Michele in May, 2013. She is survived by her children, Joan Aue of Owosso; John & Nancy Krout, Holland; Barb & Scott DePree, Lapeer; Isabel & Michael Mondelli of Flushing; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister Terri Medonis of Fenton and numerous nieces & nephews.
According to her wishes, Ruth’s body has been donated to the Medical School @ Michigan State University. A memorial service will be held @ St. John Vianney Catholic Church, located @ 2415 Bagley Street, Flint, MI, on Saturday, August 8 @ 11:00 a.m. Future Internment will take place alongside her husband, Jack & daughter, Michele @ The Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Escanaba.
In lieu of flowers, Ruth requested that remembrances be directed to St. John Vianney Church or St. Lukes N.E.W. Life Center, 3115 Lawndale Ave., Flint, MI 48504. |
