MICKELS, Eleanor – Of Flint, age 87, died Friday, August 12, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road in Burton, Father Gary L. McInnis officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Building Fund.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Mickels will be at the church 12 noon Monday until the time of the Mass.
Eleanor was born in Houghton, Michigan on September 3, 1928, the daughter of John and Sadie (Jarvi) Jestila.
She married Moses Mickels on June 2, 1951 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Flint.
Mrs. Mickels was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for many years. She was a member of the CCW.
Surviving are children, Tom and wife Gay Mickels,
John and wife Margaret Mickels, all of Flint,
David and wife Shelley Mickels of Gainesville, Georgia and
Luann Tigner of Flint;
she had 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one very special great-great-grandson.
She leaves a sister, Alice Fryburger; sister-in-law, Janette Mickels;
several devoted nieces, nephews, special neighbors, Tony and Trudy Erwin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Moses, on March 17, 2002; son-in-law, Terry Tigner; brothers, John, James and Edward Jestila and twin sister, Evelyn Jestila.
