LUGINBUHL, Walter John – of Burton, MI, age 85, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 6100 Richfield Rd., Flint, MI 48506, Rev. Pete Scribner officiating. The family will receive visitors 5-8 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the church. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in Walter’s memory.
Walter was born in Bay City, MI on November 25, 1931, son of the late Walter and Lila (McCalden) Luginbuhl. He married the love of his life, Beverly Hemingway, on October 25, 1952 and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2014. Walter is a Class of 1950 graduate of Swartz Creek High School. After graduation, he took his apprenticeship through AC Spark Plug to become a Tinsmith. Walter volunteered for his country in the US Navy from 1952-1956, stationed in Norfolk, VA. Then, years later, he earned an Associate Degree from Mott Community College. He retired from AC Spark Plug as a Plant Equipment Designer in 1997 after 46 years of service. Walter was a veteran member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. He loved to putter around the house fixing and tinkering with things. Walter and Beverly loved traveling and camping with family and their church, eventually visiting all 50 states.
Mr. Luginbuhl is survived by 3 children, Kay (Terry) Bailey, James (Dawn) Luginbuhl and Joan (Richard) Philp; 8 grandchildren, Terry and Zachary Bailey and Rebecca Scherr, Sarah Parrish, Rachel and Jacob Luginbuhl, Kevin and Danielle Philp; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Margurite (DeWeerd) Smith and Helen (Mitch) Hobbs; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marya Barrett.
