Magdalene Laura Martinson, age 73 of Durand, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Memorial Healthcare Center. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
Magdalene was born on September 27, 1943 in Flint to the late William Lothair and Magdalene Laura (Ankey) Atkinson. She graduated from Swartz Creek High School in the class of 1961 and spent her life as a homemaker. She married Daniel Eugene Martinson at the Lincoln Park Methodist Church on March 8, 1963, and together they raised two daughters.
Magdalene enjoyed bird watching, and had an article published in the Birds and Bloom magazine.
Mrs. Martinson is survived by her husband of 53 years, Daniel, her daughters; Laura (Ronald) Lovejoy and Amy (Joseph) Pickell. Her grandchildren; Daniel Lovejoy, Joshua Lovejoy, Ashley Lovejoy, Jacob Pickell, and Allysse Pickell. Her sister, Sharron (Leland) Albert, and her brother, Richard (Lynn) Atkinson, also many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary Shepard and her brothers, William Atkinson and Robert "Larry" Atkinson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Audubon Society and that you also hug someone or call someone that you haven't reached out too before time runs out.
