McLEOD, Mark A. - Of Flint Township, age 50, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 after a life long battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
Mark was the youngest child of Danny McLeod and Shirley Hubbs, and lived in New Lothrop as a child. Mark graduated from Ainsworth High School, Class of 1981, and worked at Hudson/Marshall Fields for 25 years before retiring in 2006.
Mark married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Barnett on April 18, 1981, and was happily married for 32 years. After 17 years of marriage, Mark and Pam were blessed with a son, Aaron McLeod, who added another layer of joy to their lives.
Mark's life took a beautiful turn in June 1982 when he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mark was a faithful member of the Western Hills congregation, where he served as an elder. Mark's life revolved around his family and the worship of God, not around his profession or his disease. He never took life for granted and lived life to the full. He enjoyed hiking, camping, music, and going to car shows with his son.
He was considered by all who knew him to be sincerely kind and gentle, quiet and strong. He was a precious husband, a delightful father, and a devoted son and brother and dear friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mark is survived by his wife Pamela,
his son Aaron,
his mother Shirley Lanckton and stepfather, Wayne Lanckton Jr. of Interlochen,
sister Veronica Carol and husband Larry of Grand Blanc, brothers, Dann of Flint, Tim of Grand Blanc, and John and wife Mindy of Byron,
many nieces and nephews,
mother-in-law, Beverly Barnett of Flint Township,
and brother-in-law, Greg Barnett of Fort Wayne Indiana.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Danny McLeod in 1995, his father-in-law, Tom Barnett in 2000.
Mark also leaves many dear friends, especially from the Western Hills, Atherton Park, and Grand Blanc congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service for Mark will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 3pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1187 South Dye Road, Flint, MI 48532.
