SCHOOLEY (NYSWANER), Illa – of Clio, age 97, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Angel Manor in Clio. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 E. Mt. Morris Rd., Otisville, Pastor Jan Duce officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM on Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Wednesday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richfield Church of the Nazarene or Heart to Heart Hospice.
Illa was born in Alpena, MI on August 21, 1916, daughter of the late Sanford and Ethel (Dimond) Smith. She was married to Wesley Nyswaner and he preceded her in death in 1984. Illa married Emery Schooley and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was a very active member of Richfield Church of the Nazarene, where she held several positions. Illa will forever be remembered for her faithful and devoted service as a Sunday school teacher.
Illa is survived by her children, Donna (Frank) Martin, Janet (Dale) Simmonds, Glenn (Lana) Nyswaner; foster daughter, Linda Herman; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Bob (Ruth) Smith; five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eldon (Wilma) Smith. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the owner and staff at Elizabeth’s Assisted Living for their tender loving care, Angel Manor for their exceptional care in her last few days and to the Heart to Heart Hospice, especially to her nurse, Stacie.
