FORTUNE, William R. “Randy” - Of Grand Rapids formerly of Flint, age 64, died Monday, June 3, 2013 at Huron Manor Assisted Living.
Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Bishop Jeffrey Lambert officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of Chevrolet VFW Post #3087 Honor Guard.
Contributions may be directed to the Disabled Veterans of America.
Visitation 12-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Randy was born in Flint on October 2, 1948, the son of William Robert and Mary (Stegall) Fortune. Randy served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star during his service time. Randy enjoyed electronics, music and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He retired from General Motors AC Delco Division in 1991 and was a member of UAW Local #651.
Surviving are daughters, Tonya Catizone of Flint, Tammy (James) Mowl of Owosso, Tenia Fortune of Roseville, Brenda (Lance) Pruett of Rochester and Holli (Brian) Lorts of Jacksonville, FL;
16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren;
father, William Robert (Diane) Fortune of Burton;
sisters, Melissa Fortune-Black and Candace Fortune, both of Baltimore, MD;
aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Mary and daughter, Wendy Renee. Special thank you to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans for all their care and support.
