TODD, Luella Joyce – of Davison, MI, age 88, passed away August 19, 2018 at Charter Senior Living. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Doug Connelly officiating. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2018. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Joyce was born in Flint, MI on February 11, 1930, daughter of the late Edward and Jennie (Shovan) Sipes. She married Truman Todd of Melbourne, Arkansas on September 17, 1950 at First Baptist Church, Davison by Rev. Ronald Button. They were happily married for 62 years until his passing on April 18, 2013. Throughout her life, Joyce was involved in many mission projects through churches and organizations. She volunteered for the Red Cross blood drives for over 30 years and the Davison Library for over 25 years. Joyce worked for Davison Community Schools as a playground attendant at Central Elementary in the 1970’s. She enjoyed crafting, especially painting, needlework and quilting. Being an avid quilter, she was a member of the Evening Star Quilters Guild and the Monday Country Stitchers. Joyce made and donated hundreds of quilts to various charities, most notable the VA Hospital in Saginaw.
Joyce is survived by her children, Marlene (Edwin) Weston, Eric (Lavonna) Todd and Tracy (Dennis) Hinterman; five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Charter Senior Living for their love and care for Joyce.
