PITEK, Maria – of Flint, age 92, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Bethany Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at All Saints Catholic Church, 4063 W. Pierson Road with Fr. Robert Kolenski Officiating. Entombment follows at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Road, Flushing, Michigan where the Rosary will be prayed 6 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to Bethany Home in Jackson. Maria was born in Poland August 10, 1919. During World War II she was taken to Germany where she was forced to work as a farm laborer for 5 years. Maria met Walter Pitek in Germany where they were married in November of 1945, and spent 4 years in a refugee camp where their two chidren were born. They came to the U.S.A. in 1949, where they lived in Wheeling, West Virginia for 1 year and moved to Flint where Walter was able to find employment with G.M. A few years later, Maria was employed by AC Spark Plug, where she retired after 30 years. She was a member of All Saints Rosary Society. She loved her family and her friends and everyone was welcome in her home. She loved cooking and baking her Polish delicacies and sharing them with her family and friends. Her home was her pride and joy as were her flowers. Her husband preceded her in death in 1997. She leaves behind her son, Leo Pitek, daughter, Irene (Clarence) Kosinski, 2 grandchildren, Steve (Morgan) Kosinski, and Kristina (Richard) Wrigley, 3 great-grandchildren, Brody, Grace, and Olivia, and nieces and nephews in Poland.
