Speckmann, Jack D. of Flushing, age 91, died Sunday, March 3, 2019, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor JJ Mannschreck will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
Jack was born in Elgin, Illinois on June 30, 1927, the son of Fred F.W. and Mattie Bell (Haight) Speckmann. He married Eunice Bentley on December 5, 1953, in Flushing. After 60 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on November 30, 2014. Jack proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by General Motors for 38 years as an Industrial Engineer, retiring in 1982. Jack was a longtime member of Flushing United Methodist Church, Flushing V.F.W. Post #5666 and was on numerous bowling leagues. He was also involved with the Flushing Area Senior Center.
Jack is survived by his sons, Jack Jr. and wife Lauri Speckmann, Craig and wife Dawn Speckmann; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Fred F.W., Jr. and Robert and sisters, Dorothy Vanderford and Marie Combs.
