HEMPSALL, John “Larry”- Age 74, Of Swartz Creek, joined our heavenly Father on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his residence.
Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his church's memorial fund, Avalon Hospice or Gift of Life Foundation, as Larry was the recipient of a double lung transplant in 2003.
Visitation 11 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of the service.
Larry was born in Flint, Michigan on January 2, 1938, where he met and married his wife, Carol.
Larry was employed by General Motors 34 years, served as Mundy Township Trustee, Linden School Board of Education and is the First Chimney Sweep in Michigan since the 1800's.
Surviving are his wife, Carol of 52 years;
sister, Janice Walton of Flint;
daughters, Cheryl and husband Timothy Reilly of Midland and
Valerie Hempsall of Swartz Creek;
his son, Shawn Hempsall of Caryville, TN;
5 granddaughters, Meghan Lukity, Amber Wood, Jessica and Rebecca Reilly and Alexandra Hempsall;
great-granddaughter, Chloe;
many nieces, nephews;
special cousin, William Hempsall; special friends, Sally Tartoni and Janet Sulz.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff at Avalon Hospice, especially Janise and Mark; volunteer, Paul Phillips and the Henry Ford Transplant Team.
