LAPOINTE, Bernard P. "Buzz" – of Flint, age 92, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Willowbrook Manor. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, October 21, 2016 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial in Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Morris. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-8PM and Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society.
Bernard was born February 27, 1924 in Gladstone, Michigan to the late Napolian and Emma (Bastian) LaPointe. He married Cecelia Doyle on October 20, 1951. She preceded him in death March 22, 1999. Bernard retired from Buick in 1980 with 30 years seniority. After retirement, Bernard enjoyed spending time up north with family and friends. He was a member of the UAW Local #599 and American Legion in Flint. Bernard was an avid sports fan and a long suffering Chicago Cubs fan. He especially loved watching U of M football and the Detroit Red Wings. Bernard enjoyed watching shows on tape and spending time at the casino.
Surviving are: Son, Bernie (Yolanda) LaPointe; Special canine companion, Oliver; Many nieces and nephews. Bernard was also preceded in death by his sisters: Ora and Sophia and brother, Silas. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Genesee Gardens, where Bernard had resided the last 3 years and Homestead Home Health Care for all their love, compassion and care.
