Adams, William Edward “Ed”, 87, a lifelong resident of Holly and Fenton Michigan passed away Saturday August 29, 2020 at Wellbridge of Fenton after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Ed was born on June 11, 1933 in Milan, Michigan to William B. and Agnes Adams and served as Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict as a heavy equipment operator. Ed was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 and worked for many years in the construction industry developing many residential and commercial properties in Genesee and Oakland Counties. Ed and his wife Ann were also passionately involved in the renovation of historical properties and are remembered for their work in the restoration of The Fenton Grain Elevator for retail and restaurant use as along with the renovation of their turn of the century home on Lake Fenton. Ed was an avid professional canoe racer, member of the Michigan Canoe Racing Association, and had participated in many national racing events across the country including the prestigious Au Sable Marathon race, and Ed was proud of his many honors, accolades and racing awards. In his retirement Ed began his “second career” by designing and building rustic furniture in where the demand for his high quality work many times out-paced his ability to build and deliver these unique pieces all across the country. Ed also devoted much of his time in retirement as member and past commander of the Hulet-Bravender VFW Post 5587 in Holly, and later the Great Lakes National Cemetery where he proudly served as a member of the Veteran’s Military Honor Guard.

Ed is survived by his children Michael (Michelle) Adams of Carson City NV, Michelle (Richard) Langley of Holly MI, Mari Lobbestael (Sarah) of Adelaide Australia, Judy Cook (Mike) of Cherokee NC, Benjamin Brandt of Miami Beach FL, and Arthur Brandt of Chicago IL. Also left to cherish Ed’s memory are 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and special friends Beverly Reynolds and Judith Brooks both of Fenton. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Ann Adams.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, September 3, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. The family will receive friends at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton on Wednesday from 4-8 PM and from 10AM until the time of Mass Thursday at the church. Private interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Donations in Ed’s name can be made to the Holly VFW Post #5587, Holly, Michigan. The family would like to thank the staff of Wellbridge in Fenton for the care and compassion provided to Ed and the family.
