WOOD, James A. – Of Flint, age 77, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Dean Meadows officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or Indiana University Simon Cancer Centers.
Visitation 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
James was born in Flint, Michigan on February 10, 1936, son of the late Clint and Opal (Teroy) Wood.
On June 13, 1964 he married Donna Arnold.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
He attended church at the Central Church of the Nazarene.
He served as choir music director in several local churches.
Mr. Wood was employed at GM Metal Fabricating in Flint for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 1992.
Surviving are wife, Donna;
two children (James) Matt Wood and Lynne (Jean-Francois) Brossoit;
three grandchildren, Chloe, Emilie and Andrew;
sister, Patricia Hockin;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by cousin, Frank Fisher.
