McKone, Suzanne M. of Flushing, age 82, died Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Hyde Park Memory Care surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Rossell Funeral Home. Rev. J.J. Mannschreck will officiate. A private burial will take place at Flushing Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing Christian Outreach Center.
Suzanne was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 28, 1936, the daughter of Philip and Lois (Fair) Bruner. She married Robert McKone on July 20, 1956 at Flushing United Methodist Church. They continued to reside in Flushing Michigan throughout their lifetime where Suzanne thoroughly enjoyed living in the downtown neighborhood. Robert preceded her in death August 1, 2014.
For many years, Suzanne participated in the family Standard Oil fuel oil delivery business. Later, she worked for General Motors Parts Division from where she retired in 1992. She was well regarded for her many craft skills including knitting, crocheting, and others. She also loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, and actively followed their many activities.
Suzanne is survived by her daughters, Cathryn (David) Staley, Caryn (Larry) Thurston; five grandchildren, Eric (Heather) Staley, Andrea (Conall) Walsh, Samantha (Shabier) Raffee, Morgan (Pat) Ward, Taylor (Derrick) Franckowiak; four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Staley, Reagan and Nora Ward; brother, Philip Bruner; sisters-in-law, JoAnn (Mike) Cookingham, Exie McKone; brother-in-law, Richard (JoAnn) McKone; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Pat Hawkins; and beloved dog, Rusty.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the caregivers at Hyde Park Memory Care for their love and compassion.
