SALOMON, Widad, age 88, passed away peacefully in her home on May 19, 2019 at 4:11pm.
Born on April 15th, 1931 in Amman, Jordan, Widad was the daughter of Elias and Wadia Isaac. She married the love of her life, John Salomon, in Palestine in 1945, and they were blessed to have celebrated seventy-four years of marriage together. In 1948, they migrated with their newborn daughter to Tela, Honduras, where they lived for 10 years, before making Flint, Michigan their permanent home.
Widad was a loving mother of five, grandmother of twelve, and great-grandmother of eleven. With such a tight-knit family, Widad loved spending time and making lasting memories with all of them. Her family marveled at her wonderful cooking ability and to have food ready at any given moment– whether it be her delicious stuffed grape-leaves, lamb dishes, or blueberry pancakes, among countless others. Needless to say, she showed her love through her cooking and how it brought everyone together.
Most of all, Widad cherished the time she spent with her husband, John. Waking up every day together, they played pinochle with a cup of coffee, backgammon and card games throughout the day, and watched their soap operas after lunch. They cared deeply about each other, and it was very apparent that they each were each other’s world. A relationship spanning three countries, they built a beautiful family, and Widad was the glue that kept it all together.
Widad is survived by her loving husband, John Salomon (94), and her five children – Hiam Andoni (Basil), Carlos Salomon (Denise), Raji Salomon (Sue), Dalal Salomon (Kim), and John Salomon, Jr. (Michele). Widad was a beautiful woman, and she will be deeply missed.
