Cox, Richard 3/29/1931 - 2/3/2017 Flint, MI Friday, February 3, 2017, 10:15 pm, Richard E. Cox (Dick) went to meet our Heavenly Father in the presence of his loving family. With an abundance of family and friends, Richard lead a full life with his wife Mary (Delores), as they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on December 29, 2016. A good friend commented that while most couples are joined at the hip, this couple was joined at the heart. They were, by all accounts, best friends. Their love for one another was enriched by their 10 children, 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Their spiritual bond with each other and God was amazing. Richard was born March 29, 1931, in Flint Michigan to the late Samuel and Mattie Cox. He served his country in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955. He met Mary (Delores) Zayac in 1949 while tobogganing in Flint, Michigan. They married in 1951 and have resided in Flint ever since. After he retired from Fisher Body they enjoyed traveling and leaving the winter months for AZ and NC. He was ever committed to be a great husband, father and grandfather. He always knew exactly what to say to make you feel empowered and encouraged. Surviving are his wife Mary (Delores), Children: Cathy Caten (Julius) of Richardson, TX, James Cox of Flint, Margee Franco (Phillip) of Glendale, CA, Steve Cox (Sharon) of Flint, Joan Berry (Michael) of Mesa, AZ, Joe Cox (Lori) of Bedford, TX, Barbara Poleo (Steve) of Phoenix, AZ, Theresa Jardon (David) of Gilbert, AZ, Martha Goldstein - (Joel) of Cary, NC, and Jennifer Bennett of Mesa, AZ. Grandchildren: Theresa Peters (Nick), James Caten, Joseph Caten and Jeff Caten (Jamie). Jessica Franco (Rich Manley) and Andrew Franco (Sarah). Renee Kirk (Stef), Angela Fournier (Paul), Samuel Cox and David Cox, Michael Berry II (Debbie), Jackie Stolarski (Jonathan), Matt Cox (Jennifer), Shauna Warwick (Matt), Kerri Reaves (Jon), Lauren Cox, Sydney Cox, Michele Cirocco (Anthony), Jacob Goldstein, Sydney Goldstein, Danny Goldstein, and Gabe Bennett. Great-Grandchildren: Henry, Mary Catherine, Andrew and Lucas Peters. Cole and Rowan Kirk. Easton Fournier. Ashleigh, Samantha, Kathleen, Michael III, Annabelle and Christopher Berry. Melanie and Caleb Stolarski. Jolie and Emily Cox. Hayden, McKinleigh and Grey Warwick. Knox Reaves. Westley Caten. Gavin Cox. Brother: Jerry Cox (Dolores), Sister-In-Law: Betty Holloway (Bill), Brother-In-Law: James Zayac (Joy). Sister-In-Law Jan Zayac. Many Nieces and Nephews who all loved their Uncle. Richard is preceded in death by a Brother, Howard and Sisters, Mildred Coone, Helen Cox, Sister-in-Law Virginia Hillock, Brothers-in-Law John Hillock and Joseph Zayac. Cremation has been arranged with a Funeral Service to be held on May 5, 2017, 2 PM, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Flint, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to PIME Missions (Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions) PIMEusa.org , an organization Richard and Mary have donated to, for many years.
