Halbert, Mrs. Mollie Mae "Madear" age-84 passed November 1,2011 in Elgin,Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday November 11,2011 from the Vernon Chapel A.M.E Church 5802 Dupont St. Rev. Micarl Thomas officiating, Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30am Friday. Mrs. Halbert now repose in the chapel of the Serenity Funeral Chapel and may be viewed from 10 to 6pm this evening.
Mrs. Mollie Mae Halbert "Madear" was born November 28,1926 in Steens,Ms the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis and Mollie Mae (Spraggins) Ellis. She attended school in Steens,Ms where she ran track. She was a homemaker and a loving mother. She loved music and dancing. Mollie moved to Texas in 1992 where she learned and love croquet.
Mrs. Mollie Halbert leaves to cherish her memory,sons Jessie(Althea) Halbert,Jr. of Flint, Rev. Dr. John R. (Mae) Halbert of Elgin,ILL, Willie (Bonnie) Hudson of Louisville,Ms. Daughters Lillie (Leaon)Wade of Elgin,Tx Lelia(Ocie)Lewis,Jr. of Canton,Mi and Brenda Halbert of Flint,10 grandchildren, Craig Halbert,Monica Halbert,Nicky Crane,Sedrick Halbert,Reginald Halbert,Sheila Hudson,Willie Maurice Henry,Oshia Lewis,Ocie Montre' Lewis and Ayaa Lewis 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren,sister in laws Rosetta Norfleet of Dalton,ILL,Dixie Jackson of Columbus,Ms and Virginia Halbert of St. Louis,Month,brother in laws, Jimmie Halbert of Columbus, Ms,Arthur Halbert of Chicago, ILL and Willie Halbert of St.Louis,Mo. A host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Halbert was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jessie Halbert,Sr. brothers Jack Peoples, Willie Presley and Fred Ellis. The Halbert family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Elgin Nursing and Rehabilation Center,Elgin, Tx and Serenity Funeral Chapel.
