Passed away early Tuesday morning, September 19, 2017, age 70, at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw. His committal service with military funeral honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Inurnment will follow the service.
Frederick was born in Saginaw on June 14, 1947. He was the son of Herbert F. and Anna E. (Stein) Blehm. Fred married Sandra K. Martin in Belleville, Michigan on Valentine’s Day of 1970. He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served as a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was the former Manager of Fleet Operations for the US Postal Service. He started for the Postal Service in 1969 and worked 38 years before retiring in 2007. Fred liked tractors and he enjoyed going to tractor shows and listening to Polka music. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Brady.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of over 47 years, Sandra; his two sons, Jason and wife Amy and their son Luke, and Jeff and his son Brady; his brothers, Carl and wife Pam Blehm, Emil and wife LouAnn Blehm, and David Blehm; his sister, June Rodriguez; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Those who have passed before him include his parents; a brother, Jim; and a sister, Margaret.
Charitable donations may be given in Fred’s memory to the American Heart Association.
