LAROCQUE, Raymond J. – of Davison, age 90, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at Argentine Care Center. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison ; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial with Military Honors, under the auspices of Davison VFW Post #4087, will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Thursday followed by a Memorial Service under the auspices of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #4090 and Fourth Degree Assembly #0523 of Davison at 7 PM. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service Friday at church. Contributions may be made to Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption at https://davethomasfoundation.org.

Raymond was born in Bay City, MI on March 18, 1925, son of the late Edward and Laura (Blosdale) LaRocque. He was a decorated WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. Raymond was a Carpenter’s Mate Third Class (CB) Seabees. He served in Construction Battalion USNCTC Williamsburg, VA., 137th Naval Construction Battalion, 17th Naval Construction Regiment, Construction Battalion 78, 82nd Naval Construction Battalion, USNCTC Great Lakes Illinois. Raymond received the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal (2 Stars), American Area Campaign Medal and Commendation Medal. He retired from GM Fisher Body 1 as an Analytical Engineer with 30 years of service. Raymond also owned and operated LaRocque Photographic Studio’s. He retired to Merritt Island, FL for 25 years and returned to Davison in 2010. Raymond was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Davison, 4th Degree Knight and was a life member of the Davison VFW Post #4087. Over his lifetime, Raymond was an active member in the parishes of Holy Redeemer and St. Agnes, Flint, St. Roberts, Flushing, Church of Our Savior, Cocoa Beach, FL and St. John’s, Davison. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois (Malloy) LaRocque; daughters, Carol Diaz of Larimore, ND, Nancy (Robert) Moschetta of Santa Clarita, CA, Renee (Thomas) Galvas of Anchorage, AK, Jean (Donald) Schonhoff of Rochester, MI, Joan (Dr. Michael) Harris of Traverse City, MI, Jacqueline (Gary) Paige of Commerce Twp, MI; sons, Edwin (Anne) LaRocque of Camarillo, CA, Timothy (Sandra) LaRocque of Cincinnati, OH, Paul (Paula) LaRocque of Millersport, OH; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel LaRocque; granddaughter, Rebecca Diaz; son-in-law, Richard Diaz.
