Stone, George L. of Flushing, age 88, died Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Ron Scott will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home until the time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
George was born in Flint, Michigan on February 22, 1927, the son of Kenneth and Mildred (Farrand) Stone. He married June Crystal Valentine on June 27, 1948, at the Flushing United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2015. George was a Veteran of the United States Army. He had been employed by General Motors for over 30 years, retiring in 1980. George was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Flushing.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Penny Bottoms of Flushing, Becky Freiburger of Flushing, Georgia Carter of Davison; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Dawn and husband Jim Lyons of Flushing, Nancy Randall of Flint; and many nieces and nephews. George was also preceded in death by his brothers, Darwin and Kenneth Stone; grandson, Scott Hawkins; great-granddaughter, Bailey Kaye Hawkins.
