Delbert Glen Youmans, 84, of Flushing, MI (formerly of Millington, MI), deceased Monday, November 23, 2015.
Delbert was born, in Flint, MI, December 14, 1930 to Helen and Rexford Glen Youmans. He graduated from Millington High School, after which he married Barbara J. Sampson in October of 1951. He then served in Germany in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by his son, William Youmans and his grandson, SGT. Joshua Youmans.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Youmans; his children Joyce (Ran) Loy, Ric (Luann) Youmans, Jennifer (Bleu) Hardigree, Becky (Locke) Knapp, Lynnette (Dale) Sudhoff, and Michelle (Erich) Riske; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Delbert was employed at Chevrolet MFG. for 42 years, retiring to a volunteer caretaker position @ Charlevoix Family Camp for 14 years. Finally retiring to Zephyrhills, Florida for 21 years.
He attended the Westwood Church of God (formerly the Dupont St. Church of God) as well as churches of God in Florida, finally coming home to the Clio Church of God that his family had helped to start when he was a child. He was a member of the Flint Male Chorus (formerly the Chevrolet Male Chorus), Flint Rock and Gem Club, and the Orchid Society. He took numerous mission trips to the Guatemala, Mexico, Barbados and Panama to build schools, orphanages, and churches in those countries.
He was a quiet man of action and enjoyed travel and helping out. He loved the Lord Jesus and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Clio Community Church of God Family Life Center, 1215 Vienna Rd, Clio, MI at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 28, 2015, with dinner to follow. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the church’s Building Fund. |
