Of Clio, age 92, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at Maple Woods Manor. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor James Harvey will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am till the time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the The National Kidney Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Eugene was born November 3, 1920 in Flint, MI the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Winifred (Whitehurst) Gunther. He and Billie Boone were united in marriage on June 9, 1946 in Flint, Michigan. Eugene enjoyed working on cars and owned Gene Gunther Service in Beecher, Michigan for 30 years. Before owning his own business he worked for Yerkey & Sons and Summerfield Chevrolet. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, playing poker, going to the casino, spending time with family and friends, and fixing things around the house. He loved traveling and camping with his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Billie; children, Jeanne Kay Koch and husband, Larry
Becky Lynne Uhelski and husband, Joseph, Judith Ann Stevens and husband, Gary; fourteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; sisters Shirley Murgas, Martha Gosselin and Mary Comfort; brother Noel; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jack Craig Gunther and Craig Brian Gunther;
sisters, Ruth Endicott, Harriett Powers and Mildred Patterson; brothers, Fred Gunther, Richard Gunther, Phillip Gunther, Robert (Jake) Andrew Gunther, Robert (Ike)Gunther and Willis (Bud) Herman Gunther.
The family would to send a special thanks to the staff at Maple Wood Manor.
