Joanne’s love for life touched many people as she worked like a warrior to beat cancer from 2004 to 2018. In 2004, Joanne learned she had multiple myeloma, a bone cancer disease. Following years of fighting treatments, keeping a positive attitude, and warrior-like determination, in 2009 Joanne was blessed with a 100% bone-marrow match and stem-cell transplant from one of her four sisters. The new bone marrow gave her energy to fight multiple myeloma and continue living a better life. However, in 2016 Joanne learned she had a second cancer, uterine cancer, requiring intense therapy and a fighting spirit to beat it. As if she had not endured enough, in Summer 2018, Joanne learned her cancer had metastasized to her lungs and liver, ultimately claiming her life and ending her 14-year struggle with cancer. Loved deeply by her family, friends, and medical staff Joanne could never leave your presence without a smile, and a kind word. “Team Joanne” could include anyone from her grocery store clerk to the stranger in the park. The more she suffered, the more people circled her with love, care and a determination to help her survive.
Joanne’s passions included spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren. In addition to her family and friends, Joanne enjoyed ‘Garage Sale’ searches, cooking, baking, movies, jewelry finds, Christian and country music and dancing. Prior to her cancer, Joanne worked as a pediatric children’s dental assistant and most proudly became a Facebook Marketplace entrepreneur.
Joanne is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Shaunna Bonardelli (Matthew Miller), and her son, Michael Oginsky (Janel Owen) and her beautiful grandchildren-Jacob Miller, Austin Miller, Hunter Miller, Preston Miller, Braylee and Jayde Oginsky.
In loving memory, Joanne is survived by her Mother (Anna Maria Bonardelli-Jordan), her step-father, Richard Jordan and her siblings; John Bonardelli (Maryanna), Josie Isbell (David), Anne Marie Bonardelli (Dario Matteocci), Michael Bonardelli (Linda), Teresa Szabo (Frank) and Gloria Bonardelli (Bob Brooks).
Joanne is also survived by a dozen caring nieces and nephews and many cousins in Michigan, Canada and Italy.
Preceded in death was her son Gregory “Chip” Oginsky Jr., father, James Anthony Bonardelli and brother, Frankie James Bonardelli.
Joanne’s family shares a special acknowledgment to her caretaker and sister, Josie Isbell.
Joanne was born into the Catholic faith on February 25, 1958 and will celebrate her faith and her life with a Mass at St. Mary Queen of Angels.
