Ardeth D. McKone
Age 89 of Durand, formerly of New Lothrop, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel with Pastor Ben Hobson officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 10 from 2:00 to 8:00pm and on Tuesday from 10:00am until the service.
Ardeth was born on July 13, 1927 to Harry and Effie (Sweers) Hess in New Lothrop. She graduated from New Lothrop High School. She married Carl E. McKone on September 9, 1944; they celebrated 72 years of marriage before he predeceased her last September.
Ardeth worked as a secretary for Cordier Excavating in Owosso for many years. During her life, she loved drawing, painting, and doing crafts. She was also an excellent pie baker. Ardeth was known for her sweet temperament and her strong faith. She was a member of Lamb of God Fellowship Church in Montrose. Above all, she loved being with and caring for her family.
Ardeth is survived by her children, Cathryn Hosking, Mickey (Judy) McKone, David (Sandy) McKone, and Mark (Sue) McKone; her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband, Carl; her parents; her 2 brothers, Cameron "Jim" Hess and Homer Hess; and her sister, Harriet Beardslee.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lamb of God Fellowship Church.
