SIMPSON, Richard Kent – of Mt. Morris, age 75, died Monday, May 14, 2018 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, May 18, 2018 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home. Pastor Esther Irish officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Leukemia Foundation.
Richard was born August 26, 1942 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Charles and Avis (Hughlett) Simpson. He grew up in Burton and graduated from Bentley High School in 1960. Richard served his country in the National Guard as a mechanic. On August 5, 1961 he married Sally A. Ives in Burton, Michigan. Prior to his retirement in 1996, Richard worked for GM at the truck and bus plant for 35.6 years. He was member of the UAW Local 659. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and wood craving. He was an assistant hockey coach for his son’s hockey teams. Richard was a volunteer fire fighter with the Burton Fire Department and also a volunteer with the Band Boosters. He was a smooth dancer and loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Wife of 56 years Sally; Children, Kimberley (Lawrence) Gross, David (Mary) Simpson, Julie (Lenny) Cole, Richard Simpson; Grandchildren, Jeremy (Michele) Lockrey, Brandon (Roxanne) Lockrey, Victoria Lambaria, Lorena (Matthew) Brady, Gabriela (Marty) LaPratt, Grace Cole, Luke Cole, Richard (Kirsten) Simpson III; Great Grandchildren, Quinnton Lockrey, Jacob Aker, Anastacia Aker, Isenia Marshall, Preston Brady, Adyson Brady, Noah LaPratt, Elena LaPratt, Richard Simpson IV; Siblings, Janet (Charles) Riley, Robert (Ruth) Simpson, Donna (Gary) Stewart, Michael (Bonnie) Simpson, Jerry (Janet) Simpson, James Simpson, Darlene Simpson, Brenda (Brian) Tanner, Vic Simpson, Marryann Simpson. He was preceded in death by his Brothers, Charles (Beverley) Simpson, Chester (Mary) Simpson, Paul (Rosemary ‘Tippy’) Simpson.
