BERNETHY, Patrick Donal – of Davison, age 69, went home to his Lord on Monday June 2, 2014. Per Patrick’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Celebration will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 8192 Davison Rd., Davison, MI, Pastor Ed Borycz officiating. Visitation will be 12-8 PM Friday at the church. There will be one hour of visitation prior to service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
Patrick was born in Flint, MI on October 10, 1944, son of the late Arthur L. and Lillian M. (Baker) Bernethy. He graduated from Davison High School in 1962 and Flint Junior college in 1966. On July 8, 1965, he married Judith Anne Hartfelder, the love of his life, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Davison, MI. Patrick and Judy were active members together there for 49 years. He served as a Flint police officer for 23 years retiring as a Sergeant in 1989.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter Tammy (Randy) Phillips; granddaughter, Olivia; brother, James I. (Charlene) Bernethy; sisters, Josephine (Andy) Bender Halen, Donna (Warren) Mervyn, Dena (Ray) Arneson; brother-in-law, Bruce (Robin) Hartfelder. He was preceded in death by stepfather, Joshua Butler; sisters, Laura Ann Bernethy and Linda Markee and brother-in-law Charles Bender.
