PIPKIN, James Paul - Of Burton, age 82, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery 10am Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
Visitation 11am-3pm and 5-8pm Monday and 9am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
James was born in Crowder, Missouri on May 25, 1932, the son of the late Porter and Nancy Pipkin. James served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed working at the Flint Auto Auction, gardening, including growing tomatoes. James loved spending time with his children and grandchildren camping or any other activity. He retired from GM Fisher Body in Grand Blanc in 1984 after 30 plus years of service and was a member of UAW Local 1292
Surviving are children, James Daniel (Tammy) of Saline, Linda Darlene Perkins of Scottsdale, AZ, Teresa (Brian) Burlew of Linden, Jeffrey (Debbie) of Belleville, MI, Jerry W. of Burton and Terri Green of Flint;
8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren;
sisters, Viola (Jr) Curtis of Bertrand, MO and Mabel Pipkin of Keewanee, MO;
and several nieces, nephews and best friend, Larry Hildebrand of Cadillac.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Hellen, grandsons, Daniel Lee and Robert James Pipkin, granddaughter, Sydney Pipkin, three brothers and nephew, Larry Curtis.
