Tim was born in Lowell, MA on September 7, 1923, to George and Mary Bograkos. He was one of five children. His brothers, Leonidas and Arthur; sisters, Jenny and Bessie, preceded him in death.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II. Upon being discharged from the service after the war, he continued his service to his country in the Air Force Reserves, retiring with the rank of Major.

After World War II, he went on to The Ohio State University on the GI Bill. It was there that he met the love of his life, Vera. They have been married for 65 years.

Upon graduation from OSU, with a teaching degree and Master’s Degree, he began his teaching and coaching career. After stops in Butler, OH and at Bay City Handy High School, he came to his beloved Flint Central in 1954, where he coached football and baseball and ultimately becoming the Athletic Director. Once an Indian, always an Indian.

Tim retired from the Flint Community Schools after 32 years. After his retirement, he and his wife, Vera, spent time between Flint, Florida and Arizona, where he loved to play golf and sit by the pool and solve the world’s problems with his buddies.

He was affectionately known as “Coach” and, even after his retirement, he continued to coach the athletic teams of OSU and MSU from his recliner.

He never made a bad call. Tim loved his family. They were his pride and joy and he loved talking about them to everyone he met.

He leaves his wife of 65 years, Vera;

his two sons, Tim (Sandy) and Stephan (Debi) Bograkos;

his grandchildren include Stephanie (Brian) Stephan, Tim (Jessica) Bograkos, Jennifer and Christina Bograkos and his
great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Gage Stephan and Tyler Bograkos.

He will be greatly missed.
